Hello, my name is Eric Beck and I like to make 3d pictograms. Also recently I’ve started to draw things more on paper!

I currently use 3d Studio Max 8, or 11, for my 3d work. I’ve used versions 7, 6, and 5 before that. For a long time I just used the default scanline renderer but have recently moved to VRay for all my rendering needs. I use photoshop for post work.

Web Site Histories

Over the years on this here internet I’ve dabbled in the art of web site creation. Here is where I will attempt to remember each and every one of the sites.

1997-8ish: My first attempt was a shrine to my three favorite bands at the time: the Smashing Pumpkins, the Offspring, and Shampoo. I took no shame in stealing guitar tabs, pics, and whatever else from other sites and posting them on my own. It was hosted at geocities.

1999: [The Captain Unicorn Saga] Skipping this epic sadness for now.

2000-: Anime time! Thanks to Sci-fi channel and their Anime Festivals, I saw (amongst many others) Lensman. I fell in love. There were no websites dedicated to this masterpiece so with my little experience I stepped up. Space Shake was born. I took every piece of text, every pixel of every jpg I could find, and every mp3 I could rip, and gave them a home. The site moved hosts a few times ultimately ending up at freeshell.org. The first 3d scene I ever made was Lensman fanart seen here. Look at that fancy sig, lookin good, me from the past!
